American InterContinental University - Special note to CWN By Dr. Shaban
Technical schools and universities are preparing for overpopulation as they receive a new batch of students ready to go back to school. One in every eight adults (approximately 12 percent) are preparing to return to hit the books some time in the next few years, according to CareerBuilder. Is this necessary? How can an adult-student take advantage of these new opportunities in higher education?
CareerBuilder’s survey indicates that the majority of possible university students are hoping to become more competitive in the job market. Almost 20 percent stated in the survey that they are planning to switch careers in 2010, mostly expressing unhappiness in their current job. Approximately 61 percent say they were satisfied with their job last year, but this percentage has fallen from 70 percent back in 2008.
An education focused on professional careers can be an option for the majority of people. Such an education would concentrate on the understanding and functioning of the world, orientated toward general studies or specific careers. American InterContinental University
(AIU) in South Florida offers a variety of courses designed for the working professional. – Programs focused on specific careers offer concrete opportunities for adults wishing increase their knowledge and obtain a degree in information technology. The Office of Labor Statistics estimates that employment positions in computers, systems and data administration will increase by 30 percent from 2009 to 2018. It will be the “fastest growing sector.” Employment in criminal justice will also increase by ten percent from now until 2018, according to the Labor Department statistics. Increases in population and the need for public security will make the demand for professionals with legal knowledge increase as well. Those who wish to continue to explore opportunities in the business world could pursue a master’s degree in Business Administration. – It is not important why you wish to pursue an additional career, it is only important that the program you enroll with offers you the opportunity to find the occupation that truly satisfies you.
