New AIRES Airlines will operate 25 flights to Colombia
Aires Airlines, a Colombia-based airline celebrated the launch of its new daily nonstop service from Barranquilla, Colombia to Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
On march 26th, at 5:15 pm the Boeing 737-700 aircraft from Aires Airlines touched down in Fort Lauderdale International Airport, with the fire department’s traditional cannon salute for inaugural flights. The Counsel General of the Republic of Colombia, Angela Suarez and Aires Airlines staff were accompanied by Broward County Officials and Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“The Colombian presidential mandate to its Consulate Officials is to protect the interests of their citizens and today the Consulate of Colombia in Miami, is honored to meet this guideline to support private initiatives through their products or services to bring benefits to Colombians. That’s what Aires Airlines is doing to promote trade between the two sister cities such as Medellin and Fort Laudedrlale. Therefore, I urge Aires Airlines to offer all its support and appreciation to this great city that welcomed Aires”, Suarez stated.
Aires Airlines began service at FLL on November 25, 2009 with one daily flight to and from Bogota. The flights have been very successful with exceptionally high load factors and on time performance. Aires added a second flight on March 25, 2010, with nonstop service to and from Cali. The flight operates on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
A third flight has been added with daily service to and from Barranquilla. In June, 2010, “Aires will add their fourth flight with daily nonstop service to and from Cartagena. By mid June, Aires will be operating 25 flights a week to Colombia. All flights use the Boeing 737-700 with a capacity of 148 passengers” added Fabio Andrade, Aires FLL-based Manager.
Combining all airlines, FLL will have 58 total flights a week to Colombia by July 2010. This is second in Colombian service only behind Miami International Airport (ahead of John F. Kennedy International Airport, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Orlando, Newark, Houston, and Washington). From November 2009 through the end of February 2010, Aires Airlines have carried 22,615 passengers.

Aires celebra su Nuevo vuelo directo de Barranquilla Colombia a Ft Lauderdale. Este vuelo fue recibido con el bautizo tradicional que hacen los cuerpos de bomberos para recibir al Boeing 737-700 en la pista del aeropuerto. La Consul de Colombia en Miami, Angela Suarez y el personal de AIRES estuvieron acompañados por las autoridades del Condado, el bureau de visitantes y la prensa.
Suarez, se dirigió al público para confirmar su apoyo a la ciudad de Fort Lauderdale, como ciudad hermana y siguiendo el mandato Presidencial a los Jefes de Misión, para promover las iniciativas privadas que van en beneficio de los colombianos.” Este es el tercer vuelo que llega, con el objeto de alcanzar los 25 vuelos semanales en Junio de 2010 con destinos a Bucaramanga, Bogota, Cali, Pereira y Barranquilla”, informó Fabrio Andrade, Gerente de Aires de Fort Lauderdale.
