The Problem
America is losing many jobs because:
a. It is cheaper to manufacture outside the US
b. Big and medium companies want to make more profits
c. The government certainly seems to be divorced from citizens’ expectations
Contradictions
For the first time since the US foundation, the interest of its citizens are different to the interest of American Corporations and what is even more astonishing, they are also different from the interest of the government.
Corporate America wants more profits and needs to be efficient, thus look for labor force wherever is good and competitive.
Government:
• Thinks that its role is to stimulate the economy in order to generate cash flow to consume. These programs end up cleaning crippled bank books and saving companies whose manufacture process uses mostly subassemblies made in foreign countries.
• Thinks that it should have imperials wars because they are a “necessity” as worded by the present government or because they ”have to” as worded by the predecessors.
Citizens
• Do not understand the reason of these wars
• Claim for more safety and higher standard of living
• Need stable jobs
FACTS
Road to chaos and some figures:
• More than 3 million manufacturing jobs have been lost since 1998
• Around 500 thousand IT jobs have been moved to other countries.
• More than 25% of the big financial institutions have moved many employments outside of the country and the 75% reminder will be doing the same within the next two years.
• Frequently we find on international business publications US firms hiring personnel to work in India.
• Software industry has been strongly impacted and hundreds of thousands of specialized jobs have been moved overseas.
• Greed and profit search includes states and regional governments hiring foreign firms, since they are competitive and help to balance budgets.
• “Forrester Research” projection, anticipate that 3.4 million executive and $136 million of payroll would have been jobs moved overseas by 2015
• Berkeley University has more drastic predictions and they say that 14 million jobs are at risk to be moved overseas.
• As per Deloitte survey the 100 biggest firms are planning to send overseas $356 million of operational balance sheet equity and close to 2 million jobs within the next five years.
• Cisco System plans to have 20% of their highly specialized talent to India within the next five years.
• Accenture will have more employees in India than in the US
• IBM has reduced their US payroll in 31,000 employees and has already increased in 52,000 the payroll in India.
• Citigroup already has 22,000 employees in India and is planning to reduce 26,000 jobs in US and hire 10,000 jobs in Asia with lower salaries.
• The points covered are certainly dramatic and we will see big unbalance on income distribution and we anticipate progressive and intense deterioration of the middle class.
JOBS FOR 400 MILLION PEOPLE
• Within the next 25 to 30 years the US population will grow around 100 million more to a grand total of approximately of 400 mill and it is important to plan where would they work and live.
• The answer is simple, WE DO NOT KNOW
Capitalism and Globalization
• These ideologies have been the mantras of big corporations and they have had big benefits, but devastating consequences for the middle class.
• You have heard me say in conferences, essays and Facebook that the “world evolves at the margin of ideologies”.
• I have never associated this thought with any trend, since you can easily apply it to the present highly ideologically loaded democratic government.
• However, it is impressive when we apply this thought to the republican ideology of the corporate laisses-faire called “Globalization” which has brought us to this cliff.
What used to make the United States big and strong, now is making the country small and weak, government and corporations are trying to preserve themselves attacking and weakening the population, specially the middle class.
To The Leaders
There is a time that you need to protect the country and its economy which is still the largest of the world. Following some thoughts:
• Import Protections – Duty Tariff
• Free Trade Agreements Review
• Rebuild highways, roads and communications structures
• Interconnect all the electric grid of the nation
• Eliminate oil dependency
• Connect the country with high speed trains
• Free undergraduate college education as in many third world countries
• There is no other option but to raise taxes across the board

El Problema
América está perdiendo posiciones de trabajos ya que:
a. Es más barato producir fuera de los Estados Unidos
b. Las grandes y pequeñas empresas desean ganar mas
c. El gobierno ciertamente parece divorciado de los ciudadanos
LAS CONTRADICCIONES
Por primera vez en la historia desde la fundación de los Estados Unidos, los intereses de los ciudadanos son ciertamente distintos a los intereses de la empresa americana y lo que es más sorprendente también distintos a los intereses del gobierno.
La empresa americana quiere más utilidades y para eso tiene que ser eficiente por lo cual buscará contratar la fuerza laboral donde sea más económica y al mismo tiempo efectiva.
El gobierno:
• Piensa que su papel es estimular a la economía de manera que las personas puedan seguir consumiendo, para lo cual genera programas de estímulos que terminan solo limpiando el balance de los bancos y salvando empresa cuyos componentes de fabricación son hechos en otros países.
• Piensa que debe tener guerras imperiales por “necesidad” como dirían los gobernantes de turno o por que “si” como dirían los predecesores
Los ciudadanos
• No entienden la razón de estas guerras
• Reclaman mayores seguridades y garantías
• Necesitan fuentes de trabajo estables
FACTORES
Receta para el desastre y algunas cifras:
• Más de 3 millones de trabajos de manufactura se han perdido desde 1998
• Cerca de 500,000 trabajos en el área de informática se han movido a otros países• Mas del 25% de las instituciones financieras están enviando empleos fuera del país y el otro 75% lo estará haciendo igual en los próximos dos años
• En las revistas de negocios vemos frecuentemente a las firmas americanas contratando personal para trabajar en India
• La industria de software es una de las más duramente afectadas y cientos de miles de trabajos especializados en el área se están moviendo al extranjero
• En este afán irreflexivo en la búsqueda de la eficiencia y los beneficios, los propios gobiernos regionales – estadales están subcontratando firmas extranjeras ya que son mas económicas y convenientes para los presupuestos
• La proyección de “Forrester research” es para el 2015 se habrán movido 3.4 millones de trabajos ejecutivos y $136 billones de nóminas al extranjero.
• La universidad de California en Berkeley tiene predicciones mucho más drásticas y piensa 14 millones de empleos están a riesgo de ser enviados al extranjero.
• De acuerdo a estudios a estudios hechos por la firma Deloitte 100 de las firmas más grandes planifican enviar al extranjero $356 millones del valor patrimonial de sus operaciones y cerca de 2 millones de trabajos durante los próximos cinco años.

EN QUE TRABAJARAN 400 MILLONES DE PERSONAS?
• En los próximos 25 o 30 años la población de los Estados Unidos crecerá en aproximadamente 100 millones de personas y es importante planificar donde van a vivir y trabajar.
• La respuesta es clara, NO SE
CAPITALISMO Y GLOBALIZACION:
• Estas idolologías han sido los mantras de la gran corporación y ciertamente han resultado muy beneficiosas para ella, pero realmente devastadoras para la clase media y trabajadora.
• Me han escuchado decir en conferencias y han leído en mis publicaciones, así como en mi página de Facebook que el “mundo se mueve al margen de las ideologías.”
• Nunca he asociado este pensamiento a ninguna tendencia, ya que se aplica más que nunca al pensamiento altamente ideológico de los gobernantes demócratas de turno.
• Pero es impresionante cuando la aplicamos a la tendencia ideológica del laissez-faire empresarial republicano que con su globalización nos han traído a este punto de quiebre.
Lo que hizo grande a los Estados Unidos ahora lo está haciendo pequeño y tanto gobierno como empresas en su afán de auto preservación atacan y desprotegen a la población, especialmente a la clase media.
A LOS LIDERES
Llegó el momento de proteger al país que todavía es la economía más grande, a continuación algunos pensamientos:
• Barreras arancelarias
• Revisión de los tratados de libre comercio
• Reconstruir toda la infraestructura de autopistas y comunicaciones
• Intercomunicar todo el “grid eléctrico”
• Eliminar la dependencia de combustibles fósiles
• Comunicar todo el país con un tren de alta velocidad
• Ofrecer educación superior gratuita como en muchos países del tercer mundo
• No hay más opción que levantar “ todos” los impuestos
