More than sixty local artists got together on Main Street at the Weston Town Center on February 27th to exhibit their work at the 5th Annual Weston Artwalk organized by the Arts Council of Greater Weston, Inc. A great option for local artists who get the opportunity to show their work to Weston families who are art lovers and even the adjacent cities which are ready to buy unique pieces for home decoration, for gifts and for their own pleasure at very reasonable prices. Some of them shared their experience with us.
Plastic artist, David Aaron Mack, director of Mackreativity located in Davie, exhibited his most recent art work. One of them was the series of three pieces in memory of Michael Jackson. Mack is known for creating its own style in the arts representing any mantra, philosophy or feeling.
The wood work of Luigi Colangelo Petrone was a novelty that caught the attention to the public. This wooden sculpture artist has his kitchen workshop in Davie, and in his spare time, he loves to process wood to end up with his Giant Pears, which are ideal for kitchen decoration. “People got the chance to learn about us a little bit more thanks to Artwalk”, said his son Hector.
Acrylic painting is shown under a different concept through painter Yineth de Caro from Miramar. The plastic artist Yineth paints beautiful flowers and fruit designs over bamboo bowls.
Jessica Aron, of Jeweled Reflections, was very happy for the receptive mood of the public toward her innovated creation of frames for mirrors and photographs decorated with vintage jewelry, which she gets at selective art markets. Even though these pieces look old, they contribute to the elegance of the display not seen in other places.
Omhery Madriz, resident of Savanna in Weston, designed and manufactured more than 300 pieces of women accessories with precious stones and pearls, and said to be very pleased because a lot of people stopped at her stand to buy gifts from her. “At the end of the day, we reduced our prices to provide a 20% discount, and that brought even a bigger crowd”, stated Madriz.
Claudia Roman, of Claudia’s Arts & Crafts in Weston, exhibited her painting on wood, on jewelry boxes and accessories for babies. “I am happy with the results, we sold several pieces”, said Claudia. While Stella Quintero, of Art-in-Vitro, an artist specialized in glass, displayed her beautiful stained-glass items and boxes exquisitely decorated.
Like in the past, the Art Institute of Weston also participated. It was led by Conchita Firgau. This institution recently exhibited its art work called “Three Generations of the Firgau Artists”. Conchita is thought to be a pioneer of the Artwalk in Weston after she was requested by the Town Center original management to organize the Artwalk inviting local artists. Today, Conchita considers herself to be part of the success achieved along with the rest of the artists are thankful to the efforts that the Arts Council of the Greater Weston has been doing for the last five years on gathering local artists , and at the same time offering a wonderful Art Day to the Weston community.
Fue todo un éxito el 5to Paseo Anual del Arte en Weston Town Center
El pasado mes de febrero más de 60 artistas locales ocuparon la Calle Principal del Weston Town Center, para exponer sus obras de arte en la 5ta Feria Anual del Arte (5th Annual Weston Artwalk ), presentado por el consejo de Artes del “Gran Weston” (Arts Council of Greater Weston, Inc.). Es la mejor opción para los artistas locales, quienes tienen la oportunidad de exponer sus trabajos a las familias de Weston y de las ciudades vecinas, quienes aman el arte y están dispuestas a comprar piezas originales para decorar sus hogares, comprar regalos y actualizar sus accesorios a precios razonables. Algunos de ellos compartieron su experiencia con el periódico.
El artista plástico, David Aaron Mack, director de Mackreativity ubicado en Davie, expuso sus más recientes obras. Una de ellas, la serie de tres piezas en memoria de Michael Jackson. Mack es conocido por crear su propia marca en el arte, la cual representa a cualquier mantra, filosofía o un sentimiento.
Algo novedoso que llamó la atención al público asistente, fueron las tallas en madera de Luigi Colangelo Petrone. Este artista tiene una fábrica de Cocinas en Davie, y en su tiempo libre se dedica a la elaboración de estas espectaculares peras gigantes talladas en madera, ideales para decorar el ambiente de la cocina. “Gracias a Artwalk, nos dimos a conocer un poco más”, dijo su hijo Hector.
La pintura acrílica es mostrada bajo otro concepto por la pintora Yineth de Caro de Miramar. Con preciosos dibujos de flores y frutas, la artista plástica Yineth, pinta un cuadro sobre cada pieza de bambú en forma de fuente (bowl).
Jessica Aron, de Jeweled Reflections, estaba muy contenta por la receptividad del público en la innovadora creación de marcos para espejos y portarretratos, decorados con joyas antiguas muy bien seleccionadas en subastas y mercados de arte, que aunque desgastadas, contribuyen a darle un toque de elegancia nunca visto en otras piezas de arte.
Omhery Madriz, residente de Savanna, diseñó y elaboró más de 300 piezas de bisutería en piedras y perlas, y manifestó estar muy contenta porque mucha gente se detuvo en su “stand” para hacer sus compras de regalos. “Al final del dia, hicimos una venta especial con un 20% de descuento y vino mucho más gente”, dijo Madriz.
Claudia Román, de Claudia Arts & Crafts en Weston, expuso sus trabajos de pintura sobre madera, en joyeros y adornos para bebes. “Estuvo bien la exposición, vendimos algunas piezas”, dijo Claudia. Mientras que Stella Quintero, de Art-InVitro, artista de trabajos en vidrio, expuso sus bellísimos vitrales y cofrecitos finamente decorados.
Como todos los años, el Art Institute de Weston participó presidido por Conchita Firgau, quien presentó recientemente la exposición “Tres Generaciones de los artistas Firgau”. Conchita es pionera del Artwalk, ya que desde sus inicios en el Town Center, le solicitaron que por primera vez organizara un Paseo del Arte, invitando a artistas locales. Hoy, Conchita se siente parte del éxito que junto a los otros artistas obtuvieron en este evento, gracias al esfuerzo que desde hace 5 años viene haciendo el Consejo de Arte del “ Gran Weston” para lograr reunir a la mayor cantidad de artistas locales y ofrecer un dia de Arte a las familias de Weston.
