Presented Awards to the Media – Lesly Simon, President of the Chamber, the Board of Directors, and the Young Entrepreneur Chapter of the Chamber, presented awards to Venezuelan entrepreneurs representing the media, recognizing their excellent professional work of integration through journalism in South Florida. Those awarded were Luis Alcala, Evelyn Alcala, Pedro Mena, Lourdes Ubieta, Ely Bravo, Yolanda Medina, Manuel Corao, Betsabe Capriles, Maria Alesia Izturriaga, Rafael Montilla, the maestro Enrique Hidalgo, among others.
A differencial element of these Awards was the use of numbered serigraphy created by the outstanding Venezuelan artist Fernando Sucre, who resides in Miami. This brilliant artist, with more than fifteen years exhibiting his work around the world, has captured the attention of the Neo-Pop Art lovers with his polemic paintings.
The Chamber founded in 1991, is working hard in becoming the link between the Venezuelan business community and the U.S.A. Venezuela continues to be one of the biggest business partners of the U.S.A., with trading of up 6.3 billion dollars in 2008. “We, at the Chamber, are convinced that thanks to professionals like you, we will be able to continue to consolidate ourselves as a community with great future, which promises to give and receive the best of this country”, was one of the many expressions of Lesly Simon when she was presenting the awards.
The bilingual community newspapers Ciudad Weston and Ciudad Doral join efforts to celebrate this recognition and they feel committed to continue supporting the several organizations, enterprises and Venezuelan communities which altogether contribute to the development of the State of Florida.

De manos de la Presidenta, Lesly Simon, la Junta Directiva y el Capitulo de Jóvenes Emprendedores de la Cámara Venezolano-Americana de los Estados Unidos, entregó a los medios de comunicación representados por empresarios venezolanos, un Reconocimiento por su excelente labor profesional de integración a través del periodismo en el Sur de la Florida. Los representantes de los medios de comunicación que recibieron el reconocimiento fueron Luis Alcala, Evelyn Alcala, Pedro Mena, Lourdes Ubieta, Ely Bravo,Yolanda Medina, Manuel Corao, Betsabe Capriles, Maria Alesia Izturriaga, Rafael Montilla, el maestro Enrique Hidalgo, entre otros.
Un elemento que diferenció este Reconocimiento de los convencionales, era que estaban escritos sobre serigrafías numeradas creadas por el excelente pintor venezolano radicado en Miami, Fernando Sucre. Este brillante artista, con más de 15 años exponiendo sus obras por el mundo ha capturado con sus pinturas polémicas, caricaturescas y sin tabú, la atención de los amantes del arte Neo-pop.
La Cámara Venezolano- Americana de los Estados Unidos, establecida en 1991, está dedicando un gran esfuerzo para servir de enlace entre la comunidad de negocios venezolana y los Estados Unidos. Venezuela sigue siendo uno de los mayores socios comerciales de los Estados Unidos, el cual registró negociaciones con este país de 6.3 billones de dólares en el 2008. “Nosotros en la Cámara estamos convencidos que gracias a profesionales como ustedes, seguiremos adelante consolidándonos como una comunidad con mucho futuro, que promete dar y recibir lo mejor en esta gran nación”, fueron algunas de las palabras de Lesly Simon, a la entrega de los reconocimientos.

The Puerto Rican Hispanic Chamber of Broward Welcomed a New Member
The Bi-County, Speech, Occupational & Physical Therapy Bi Lingual Services celebrated their Grand Opening at their new location, as they become a new member of the Puerto Rican Hispanic Chamber of Broward. Frank Nieves, the President of the PRH Chamber of Commerce congratulated the directors of the Center for the commendable work being played, since more than 20 year for children in need.
Attendances were able to network and join the enthusiastic Opening with Special Guest Hon. Mayor of the City of Pembroke Pines, Hon. Frank Ortis, who expressed his support and satisfaction by the contribution made by a center like this because it creates many jobs contributing to the local economy of the city.
Stephanie Eisen Gilfarb, is the Director and Owner of Bi-County Speech Language Pathology. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with her Masters in 1991. She began Bi-County in 1994. Miss Stephanie loves all of the children that come to the Center and makes sure that all of them are treated as one of the family, from individualized treatment plans, attentive care, and parent involvement. In addition, Miss Stephanie is implementing an oral motor program at Bi-County which will really make the difference in articulation treatment and minimize treatment time by half. Cámara de Comercio de Puerto Rico recibe Nuevo Miembro
La organización de Servicios Bilingues en Lenguaje, Terapia Física y Ocupacional que cubre los dos Condados en el Sur (The Bi-Country, Speech, Occupational & Physical Theraphy Bilingual Services) celebró su Gran Apertura al mismo tiempo que se inscribía como nuevo miembro de la Cámara de Comercio Hispana de Puerto Rico. Frank Nieves, presidente de la institución felicitó a los directores del Centro por su trabajo sobresaliente ejercitado por más de 20 años ayudando a los niños afectados en este campo.
Los asistentes pudieron hacer sus contactos de negocios y unirse al mismo tiempo al entusiasmo de la Apertura con la presencia del Honorable Alcalde de la Ciudad de Pembroke Pines, Frank Ortis, quien reiteró su apoyo y satisfacción por la contribución que el centro provee no solo con su experiencia sino por la creación de empleos ayudando así a mejorar la economía de la ciudad.
Stephanie Eisen Gilfarb, es la Directora y Propietaria del Centro. Ella se graduó en la Universidad de Vanderbilt con un Masterado en 1991. Ella empezó el Centro en 1994. Miss Stephanie ama a todos los niños que llegan a su Centro y se asegura de que todos sean tratados como uno más de la familia, poniendo mucha atención a los programas de tratamiento individual, cuidado atento, y la intervención de los padres. Además, Miss Stephanie está ya implementando un programa de motor oral en el Centro lo que en verdad traerá mucha diferencia en el tratamiento de articulación y va a miniminizar el tiempo de tratamiento a la mitad. As Part of their 2011 Program, Mujeres Latinas IML began its Informational Workshops for Entrepreneurs.
Sindya Nazario-Cardona, President of MLIML, revealed the 2011 Program to the members last February 27 at the Hyatt Bonaventure in Weston. The most important issue was the program directed to business entrepreneurs.
The workshops will be assigned to expert professional in the areas of business organization, finance, and tax matters. The objective of these workshops is to convey wide information, possibly in Spanish, to new entrepreneurs, college students and women who just start introducing themselves to the business world. All the workshops will be dictated at the Sistema Universitario Ana G. Mendez in Miramar. The next workshop, “How to do Business in Florida” will be dictated on March 31st from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Como parte del Programa 2011 – MLIML COMENZO A DICTAR TALLERES INFORMATIVOS EMPRESARIALES
Sindya Nazario-Cardona, Presidenta de Mujeres Latinas Impulsando Mujeres Latinas, presentó el programa 2011 a la membrecía de la organización el pasado mes de Febrero en el Hyatt de Bonaventure. El tema principal del programa está dirigido a la presentación de talleres informativos para nuevas emprendedoras de negocios.
Los talleres serán dictados por expertos profesionales en las áreas de organización empresarial, financiera y actualizaciones en impuestos. El objetivo de estos talleres es procurarles la mayor información posible en español, a nuevos emprendedores, estudiantes universitarios y mujeres que comienzan a involucrarse en el mundo de los negocios. Todos los Talleres están siendo dictados en el Sistema Universitario Ana G Mendez. El próximo taller titulado “Como hacer Negocios en la Florida” será dictado el 31 de Marzo de 6pm a 8pm. MIEMBROS DEL CLUB ECUATORIANO SE REUNIERON EN WESTON – El 12 de Febrero, Ecuadorian American Club, celebró el Día del Amor y la Amistad. Socias e invitadas degustaron un rico almuerzo y disfrutaron de una tarde amena y divertida en la residencia de Betty Silva en Weston. Ecua Club realiza diferentes eventos y actividades con el propósito de ayudar a los niños menos afortunados del Ecuador y USA. Esta organización lleva más de 15 años cumpliendo con esta noble misión que incluye 26 fundaciones, escuelas y hospitales. En la foto aparece la presidenta Miryam Peregrina, la vicepresidenta Beatriz Carrillo, la dueña de casa, Betty Silva y algunos miembros que asistieron a este evento.
Members Of The Ecuadorian Club In Broward Got Together In Weston – Last February 12th, the Ecuadorian American Club celebrated a Day of Love and Friendship. Members and guests enjoyed a wonderful luncheon and an afternoon full of laughter and fun at Betty Silva’s home in Weston. EcuaClub organizes different events and activities during the year in order to raise funds to help the less fortunate children in Ecuador and USA. This organization has more than 15 years complying with their commitment and taking care of more than 26 non-profit organizations, including schools and hospitals for children. In the picture we can see the president, Miryam Peregrina, the vicepresident, Beatriz Carrillo, the hostess, Betty Silva, and some of the members who attended the party.
AMERICAS COMMUNITY CENTER
ACC started 2011 with new plans, goals, events, new Board members, and a new projects and administrative director. There is a lot going on at ACC preparing for their tenth anniversary serving the community.
Richard Bustillo, General Manager at Rick Case Honda in Weston officially became a member at the Board’s meeting on last January 17th. The new Board includes Fabio Andrade, Harold Calle, Tatiana Eyzaguirre, Daniel Hurtado y Nelson Carmenates, who are always professioanlly supporting the organization the best they can.
ACC will celebrate its tenth anniversary in September. They are planning a big Dance Gala at the Rick Case Honda facilities where some of the most outstanding companies will be recognized for their excellent service and support to the community.
This year they are full of activities with events such as the Carnival of the Americas in July, the business cocktail hours at Citi Bank where the Venezuelan and Colombian communities are usually recognized for their community service. In addition, they will bring important international speakers to the Productivity Lectures such as Angela Marulanda, Patricia Hashuel and Dr. Jorge Carvajal.
They will also organize workshops for young people. “They need special care and attention specially those in the Hispanic community here in Broward County and we will do our best to fulfill this task”, stated the new Projects and Administrative Director, Ana Lucia Perez, who has been working with young people for the last two years.
Julio Patino resigned from his position as Senior Manager. He served ACC for the last three years with a lot of dedication in addition to sharing his natural charismatic personality generously. He will always be there to continue assisting and counseling though.
Americas Community Center – Empezó el 2011 con nuevos planes
La Organización Americas Community Center anunció algunas noticias para celebrar este año su Decimo Aniversario de ser constituida.
El pasado mes de enero se reunió la nueva junta directiva de Americas Community Center para juramentar al nuevo miembro Richard Bustillo, Gerente General de Rick Case Honda en la ciudad de Weston. La Junta Directiva quedó conformada por los señores: Fabio Andrade, Harold Calle, Tatiana Eyzaguirre, Daniel Hurtado y Nelson Carmenates, quienes tienen una larga trayectoria de servicio a la comunidad y han brindado apoyo y orientación a la organización desde sus comienzos.
En el mes de Septiembre Americas Community Center se vestirá de Gala para celebrar su Aniversario en grande. Se está organizando en las instalaciones de Rick Case Honda, un gran evento, donde se le otorgará Mención Especial a aquéllas empresas que han sobresalido en el sur de la Florida por su excelente servicio, calidad y aporte a la comunidad.
Como es tradición, en el mes de Julio realizarán el Carnaval de las Americas para la comunidad Hispana, el Cocktail de Independencia de Venezuela y Colombia patrocinado por Citi Bank. Además, están siempre las exitosas Charlas de Productividad, que han dado resultados positivos para todos los sectores de la comunidad de Weston. Hasta Ahora se han presentado talentosos conferencistas internacionales tales como Angela Marulanda, Patricia Hashuel y el Dr. Jorge Carvajal. Uno de los mas importantes proyectos han sido los Talleres para Jóvenes, “Ellos necesitan especial orientación y atención sobre todo en la comunidad Hispana, aquí en el condado de Broward y nosotros le ofreceremos herramientas necesarias para sacar el líder que llevan por dentro” dije la nueva Directora Administrativa y de Proyectos, Ana Lucia Pérez, quien ha venido trabajando con los jóvenes en los últimos dos años.
Lamentablemente, se despide de su puesto el Sr Julio Patiño, Senior Manager, quien ha estado al servicio de Americas por los últimos tres años haciendo un excelente papel organizativo. Nuevos actores y Nuevos retos, hacen de Americas Community Center una organización activa que ocupa cada vez más espacios en el Sur de la Florida.
