20 years have passed since I arrived in the USA, the land of opportunities, the place to get our dreams come true and build a great future. The struggle, perseverance, dedication, trust, professional ethics, team spirit, the pride of innovating, creating new ideas, products, and opportunities of jobs, were all the footprint that marked my path to allow me to get…the “American Dream.”
Today, after several years of global crisis, I want, as a professional of design and sustained construction, to be the exponent of ideas in the search for a positive change facing this big problem that has rocked our roots, and that now is becoming a main factor when fighting for our dreams, our identity, our ability to innovate, our quality of life and the respect for this great nation.
We have to have a holistic focus in the reconstruction of America. Our participation and leadership is vital in the following areas:
1. Education.
Every child should be provided with a basic education, which will allow him/her succeed in the global economy when competing in knowledge and technology. There should be emphasis in the areas or energy, technology, innovation, math, protection and respect of the environment. It is our obligation as parents to allow those areas of education reach our children and hence demand the schools in our communities to participate in programs that could improve the quality of education.
We have to reestablish leadership in the USA in the area of higher education and prepare our children and even ourselves when face the intense global competition.
2. Respect and Protection of the Environment and Natural Resources.
This is not an option nor a trend, it is the moral obligation that we should have around the world, as both a collective mind and individual, to protect, preserve, and care for the environment and its quality for our own benefit and those of the future generations. At the same time, it is our duty, to demand our communities to have a healthier environment, with no contamination whatsoever in our schools, jobs, meeting places and in our homes.
The key for the environment care is in the saving and consideration. Not to waste the resources, such as water of green areas, and to contribute to the equilibrium of the planet, which will in the long run bring a common benefit.
3. Endorse and Support the new MADE in USA green technologies
USA has two options: either we remain behind of the new green technology and we get it from China, or we participate in it in order to win the global competition in the invention of efficient and sustainable inventions.
Enough with excuses. The world is not waiting for us to design the latest design in solar panels, because they are already making them. China is trying to win in that global market, using a technology that was invented by us. The entrepreneurs and innovators in the USA are the best in the world and they have never been intimated when facing a challenge. It is time to face our big competitors and get placed again as leaders of technology and innovations, endorsing and supporting the technology made in the USA.
4. Build Stronger, Intelligent and Healthier Buildings.
It is our obligation as design and construction professionals to offer our clients much more sustainable projects, where all the factors are being considered. Location, conservation of resources, saving of energy, air quality, support to the local economy, usage of non-toxic materials, redistribution of waste materials, in that way, offering a holistic concept of intelligent integration in the search for the optimization of results that will benefit everybody in the planet we live in.
5. The greatness of the American people…still to be seen.
About this subject there is no writing as yet but one thing is sure, the contribution of each and every one of us is fundamental.

Han pasado más de 20 años desde que llegue a USA , la tierra de las oportunidades, el lugar para soñar y creer en el mañana. El esfuerzo, la perseverancia, la dedicación, la confianza, la ética profesional, el espíritu de participación, el orgullo por innovar creando ideas, productos y oportunidades de trabajos fueron las huellas que marcaron mi camino permitiéndome lograr así… el “Sueño Americano
“
Hoy después de varios años de crisis Global, quiero como profesional del diseño y la construcción sostenible ser una exponente de ideas en la búsqueda de un cambio positivo ante este problema fuerte que ha sacudido nuestros cimientos y que ahora se convierte en un factor primordial por defender nuestros sueños, nuestra identidad, nuestra capacidad por innovar, nuestra calidad de vida y el respeto por esta gran Nación.
Tenemos que tener un enfoque holístico en la a reconstrucción de América, es vital nuestra participación y liderazgo en las siguientes áreas:
1. Educación.
Cada niño tiene que ser provisto con la educación necesaria que le permitirá destacarse en una economía global que compite cada vez más en conocimiento y tecnología. Hay que enfatizar en las áreas de energía, tecnología, innovación, matemáticas, protección y respeto al medio ambiente.
Es nuestra obligación como padres permitir que esa educación llegue a nuestros hijos y a su vez tenemos que exigir a todas las escuelas de nuestras comunidades que participen en estos programas y eleven su calidad de educación.
Tenemos que restablecer el Liderazgo de América en la educación superior y preparar a nuestros hijos y a nosotros mismos para una intensa competencia global.
2. Respeto y protección del medio ambiente y los recursos naturales.
Esto no es una opción ni una modalidad, es la obligación moral que tenemos todas las personas del mundo, tanto colectiva como individualmente, de proteger, preservar y cuidar el medio ambiente y mantener su calidad, para nosotros y las próximas generaciones.
Al mismo tiempo es el deber de cada uno de nosotros de exigir en nuestras comunidades ambientes más sanos, sin focos de contaminación en nuestras escuelas, trabajos, lugares de reunión y en nuestros hogares.
La clave del cuidado ambiental está en el ahorro y la consideración, en no desperdiciar los recursos, como el agua o las áreas verdes, de los que otros se pueden favorecer y así contribuir al equilibrio del planeta y, a la larga, a un beneficio común.
3. Endosar y apoyar: las nuevas tecnologías verdes “ MADE IN USA”
Estados Unidos tiene dos opciones: o nos quedamos a un lado con la nueva tecnología verde y se la compramos a CHINA o participamos para ganar la competencia global de la invención de tecnologías eficientes y sostenibles.
Ya es suficiente de excusas, el Mundo no nos está esperando a que produzcamos el ultimo diseñó en paneles solares, ya ellos lo están haciendo. China está jugando a ganar en este mercado Global, usando una tecnología que fue inventada por nosotros.
Los empresarios e innovadores de América, son los mejores del mundo, y nunca se han intimidado ante un reto, es hora de enfrentarnos a nuestros mayores competidores y colocar nuevamente a nuestra Nación como líder de la tecnología e innovación endorsando y apoyando la tecnología hecha en USA.
4. Construir edificaciones más fuertes, inteligentes y saludables.
Es nuestra obligación como profesionales del diseño y la construcción ofrecer a nuestros clientes proyectos más sostenibles, donde todos los factores sean considerados: ubicación, conservación de los recursos, ahorro de energía, calidad del aire, apoyo a la economía local, utilización de materiales no tóxicos, redistribución de materiales de desperdicio ofreciendo así un concepto Holístico inteligente de integración en la búsqueda de una optimización de los resultados para beneficio de todos y del planeta en que vivimos.
5. La grandeza del pueblo Americano… aún está por verse.
De eso, todavía nadie ha escrito pero el aporte de cada uno de nosotros es primordial!
